Summary
The book follows the story of Paul Baumer and other soldiers who are fighting on the front lines of World War I. The story documents everything that is experienced on the front. Much of the story is also focused around Paul returning home, an area in which he struggles with acceptance and belonging.
Review
Overall, this really was a fantastic book. The way the war is un-romanticized is what makes it so great. Everything from the bombs, to the deaths of soldiers, to the allocation of rations were in very real settings, and they provide a true glimpse into what war really does on a individual and national scale.
